A mash-up of two ideas:
1. States that claim to govern in the interests of their people, and
2. the “Paperclip Maximiser” - a thought experiment by philosopher Nick Bostrom that asks: What if Artificial Intelligence rose to power but maximising the production of paperclips over all else was it's political wiil?
AKA, are the powers that be looking after our interests and are they actually being effective.
The People's Republic of Paperclips is a nonpartisan — though unapologetically biased — thought dump by cats interested in the ethics, effectiveness, and accountability of governments, interest groups, and business.

It must be said, the cats are NOT experts in any of those fields, they are just cats with a lot of questions.

No one really knows where the cats will take this but it's likely gonna skew toward Australian politics, big business, and the perils (and possibilities) of technology.... and memes.
